The Hollywood Reporter and many other outlets are spreading the news that this weekend America just didn’t want to see Tom Cruise being a rock star.  Rock of Ages as well as Adam Sandler’s first R-rated comedy (with him starring in it…we don’t mention Bucky Larson here) in three years barely scraped into the top five spots and couldn’t dethrone Madagascar 3, with Rock of Ages coming in at #3.

Next weekend two new major summer releases will be wading into the fray.  My guess is that Pixar’s Brave will shoot an arrow through the lion and the zebra’s polka dots and take first.  Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter will probably hit in 3rd.
