SDCC COVERAGE: IRON MAN 3!!! WITH PICS!

I was able to be a part of the Iron Man 3 Press Panel at SDCC this year. What I took away from the panel is that Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr work well together. Don Cheadle also appeared to be having a great time with the project. While we didn’t get much in the way of spoilery content (damn them, they are on to us) we did get a few bits of insight into the film.

I get a vibe that we will not be seeing any other Avengers in this movie, at least not in a major way…there’s always that extra after credits scene that could hint at something further. We can also expect some of Tony Stark’s dark side to show itself, that snarky dangerous side that we all love and know is there.

According to Shane Black we will NOT see Tony Stark become a drunk loser again (thank god, no suit pissing.) No surprise, we’ll be seeing War Machine suited up in this. Shane Black looks to be bringing his ability to combine dark and gritty with fun ala Boondock Saint’s and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! with this movie. He has the smarts to allow Downey to improvise and do what he does best, basically being a living breathing Tony Stark.

The kid who got to ask the last question was perhaps a highlight for not only all the reporters there, but for Downey himself (a new 2nd time around dad) who seemed to melt at the sight of a penciled in goatee on the little boy.
