The Quicksilver Question…But he’s at least cast!

Quicksilver is now up for debate on if he will actually be in Avengers 2 now.  The reason is he’s for certain in X-Men: Days of Future Past.  And he will be played by American Horror Story’s (and Fangirl Favorite) Evan Peters.

Peters was announced today on Twitter by director Bryan Singer as joining the production.  This comes after news broke that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch (brother and sister) were to be joining The Avengers 2.  Since two different studios own these film franchises (even though they are both Marvel comics) this raises the question of will he or won’t he, as well as will it be the same actor and a way to tie these two epic film series together?

This is also an excuse to share this pic of Peters in a bathtub because…why not?  Also rat.

The World’s End: The Full Trailer

Edgar Wright is turning into Jesus.  But that is besides the point.

THE WORLD’S IN TRAILER IS AWESOME.  <— this is the point.  Also Simon Pegg Goth’d out fulfills too many of my fantasies to list here (bonus fighting killer robots) so I won’t even try.

Pacific Rim: How do you drive a giant effing robot?

IGN has a new video from Del Toro and company that explains the pilot process for Pacific Rim’s giant monster killers. It’s actually pretty interesting and was one of my main questions after seeing the footage of how the dual pilot system works.

Also Del Toro looks adorable in this and I just want to cuddle him. Teehee.

Patrick wakes up

A surprise remake that I wasn’t aware of just popped up with a trailer.  One of my favorite films growing up (and also one of Simon Pegg’s) was a creepy Australian horror movie called “Patrick.”  The film has been remade and is being released this year with a major update by director Mark Hartley and co-stars the awesome Charles Dance as an evil doctor who is doing bizarre experiments on his coma patients.  One can only guess what’s going to be in store for him.

Thanks to Twitch Film for the heads up

Sharlto’s been busy again.

Thank you to Sharlto Copley Fans for sharing the first image from yet another film the busy Copley is in this year.  Open Grave is a horror flick that’s plot is as follows:  A man wakes up in the wilderness, in a pit full of dead bodies, with no memory and must determine if the murderer is one of the strangers who rescued him, or if he himself is the killer.

So far this is all I’ve seen about the film released.  No trailer that I know of  yet but it also stars Joseph Morgan, AKA Klaus from the Vampire Diaries.

This doesn’t look like a happy scene.  He’s also still sporting that beard that he had for Elysium.  I’m sure when we get closer to a release date we’ll know more.  But as yet now word other than it will be out this year.

Possible “official” Only Lovers Poster with Vamp Hiddles

I don’t know how “official” this is, but it has been credited as the French movie poster for “Only Lovers Left Alive.”  If it isn’t, it is a pretty good attempt at one.  I’m still patiently waiting for a trailer or just…SOMETHING from this film.

UPDATE:

It’s not official, it’s from tumblr. Very good though, but i would have made sure it was clear there was vampy action to be had. –Ren

The Nightmare Continues…via some awesome fan films

Krueger (a tale from Elm Street) was the first of a trilogy of planned Nightmare on Elm Street fan films created by Chris R. Notarile and Blinky Productions.   After a successful funding campaign the second film “Another Tale from Elm Street” has hit the net.

You can watch them both below and they are quite entertaining, with Roberto Lombardi doing a great job playing Freddy Krueger pre burn and channeling his inner Englund.  Also props to the costumes and all the actors involved.

Fan Films and Fan Fiction are awesome and you should support the creators behind them.

Superman TV Spot #3 – YOU MADE ME ANGRY, YOU WON’T LIKE ME WHEN I’M ANGRY

Man of Steel is going to be taking on the Man of Iron soon.  And with this new clip it has a good chance at taking a swipe at Marvel’s golden (and red) boy.

In this quick 30 second spot we see more Zod, more Lois, and a very obviously not happy Superman.  While it isn’t the epic scream that Chris Reeve gave us, it still gives me goosebumps because I love it when my boys get mad.  Angst is tasty and super angst is even more so.

Yes, I know it’s a sickness.

And just because I love this and Christopher Reeve is FOREVER.

The Crow…sounds dead on arrival.

Remember a few days ago when I was excited at the prospect of a new Crow film and having Tom Hiddleston starring in it?  Well…those were the days my friends.

Recently word came down that Luke Evans, a man that has already starred in another bird titled film, The Raven, is now donning the make-up and playing Eric Draven.  Evans is also starring as Dracula in another film based on the mixing of the historical Vlad the Impaler and the mythical vampire.  It’s funny that Sam Worthington was up for that role as well, as Evans is quickly becoming the newest Worthington type in Hollywood.  He’s suddenly in EVERYTHING and not really being cast in roles that would suit him best (he’s also the main bad guy in the Fast and Furious sequel hitting this summer.)

Well, I thought to myself, maybe its not so bad.  He’s a decent enough actor.  Maybe it won’t be a straight up Eric Draven film.  There were other Crow comics and stories that focused on others who were brought back from the beyond.  Oh no my dear readers…it’s far worse than that.  Below is the video that Latino-Review posted not too long after the word broke.  They got a look at the script…and well…I’ll just let you watch it.

Iron Man 3: Iron Man in Pieces Movie Review

Iron Man 3:  Iron Man in Pieces

A Movie Review

By Jessica Dwyer

Iron Man 3 had quite an act to follow in the Avengers.  A billion dollar mega hit, Iron Man 3 was the follow up to a lackluster and troubled sequel in the form of Iron Man 2.  But it had a lot in its corner.  The Avengers gave it a great building block to work from in terms of character arc.  It also had Shane Black in the director’s chair, a man who is known for writing witty dialog and making and scripting great movies like the Boondock Saints, Lethal Weapon, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which he’d worked on with star Robert Downey Jr.

But sadly instead of a worthy follow up and next step in the ongoing conquering march of the Marvel universe on the big screen, we got an uneven hodgepodge of comedy and angst and straight up out of character moments.  Also again we get a forced feeling love story that takes up a healthy chunk of the film.  Not to say that the film is horrible and it is nowhere near as bad as Iron Man 2 which had the distinction of filming without a completed script.  No, there are moments in Iron Man 3 that are brilliant and are obviously Shane Black with the witty banter within them.  But that makes me wish for the movie that could have been and wonder why this one feels so off.

There are going to be spoilers here.  Because if you read this site there is no way you aren’t going to see this movie.  But in order to explain my points of why I was disappointed by this film I have to reference the parts that made me disappointed.   We’ll count them down. Read more
