Wait…what?

The Hollywood Reporter:

CBS has kicked off what is expected to be a busy week by ordering two drama projects to pilot. The first, Elementary, is a modern take on the cases of Sherlock Holmes, with the detective now living in New York City. Robert Doherty will write and executive produce the CBS TV Studios project, with CBS vet Sarah Timberman (A Gifted Man, Unforgettable) and Carl Beverly on board as executive producers

Uh, I hate to break it to them, but they need to meet this guy:

Sherlock : The series we should be seeing in the states

The new series that everyone in the UK is talking about is Sherlock, a modern telling of the Conan Doyle stories.  We’ve got Watson played by genre fave Martin Freeman and we’ve got Holmes played by the awesomely named Benedict Cumberbatch (who is also quite the hottie in that Holmes way: Lanky, Smart, English).

The series is on its 3rd or 4th episode of its first run (they are called series not seasons in the UK) and it looks to be a hit.  It’s helmed by Steven Moffat, he of the new order of Who.

Sadly this is the type of show we aren’t getting in the states.  And unless you are into downloading episdoes via Torrent or what have you, you’ll have to wait for this to hit BBCAmerica in another 6 months or longer.

Check out some of the new Holmes here.
